DISTRICT EVENTS
THE PAHIATUA SEAT MEETING OF LADIES’ COM--31 ITTEE. A meeting ol the ladies’ committee formed on behalf of the Reform •andidate (Mr G. H. Smith) for the \ Pahiatua seat, will be held in the Borough Council Chambers on Tuesday afternoon next, at 2 o’clock. Ladies living in the country districts ire specially invited to attend. EUCHRE PARTY. The euchre evening held in the Mangatainoka Library Hall on Wednesday to provide funds for the ■hildren’s Christmas tree was very largely attended. The first prize for the ladies was won by Mrs C. Walker, and for the gentlemen by Mr M. Reiehenbach. The consolation awards went to Miss Wright and Mr M. O’Brien. The winner of the bean-board competition was All- Lamont, and Airs Ross won the darts contest. It is proposed to hold three euc-hr© parties for this object, and there will be a points prize for the euchre players to strive for. FRIENDLY SOCIETIES’ BALL. Every district round Pahiatua is keenly interested in the monster ball To be held in the Drill Hall on Thursday of next week. The Friendly Societies have combined with the Fire Brigade and the Municipal Band, which is sufficient guarantee that- the function will be wholeheartedly supported. A very strong committee has arrangements well in hand and the decorations, which are in the charge of Messrs W. H. Mmrch and Eric Alexted, will be something out of the ordinary. Wi Duncan’s popular orhestra lias been engaged and Alls East will be responsible for a delicious -upper. The prices are at -a popular figure and tickets are obtainable at many business premises.
