LAWN TENNIS

EKETAHUNA CLUB. One of the most successful seasons experienced since the inception of the club was reported at the annual meeting of the Eketahuna Tennis Club. It was states that in order to cope with the increasing attendance the committee had had a new court laid down at an appropriate cost of £ 140. An overdraft of £IOO was obtained at tlie club’s bank with four local business men acting as guarantors. This amount would have to be reduced by at least £25 per annum. Extra ground was leased on which to lay down the new court, and the pavilion had been shifted. About £l6O had been spent on the new court and improvements. As there was still further work to be done the funds of the club would need conserving. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: Patron, Mr A. H. Herbert; president, Mr H. E. Greathead; vice-presidents, Messrs J. F. Nicholson, F White and -- M. Page; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. M. Robb ; committee, Mrs A. Ross, Masses Ede, Osborne and Farmer, Messrs Allen, Gourdie, Galagber and Bowering, club captain, Mr J. F. Nicholson, auditor, Mr G. T. Allen. Several new members were elected.
