Frequent agitation By the executive of the PahiatUa A. and P. Association in the attempt to remove the hardship created for some years by (he clashing of show dates has at last proved successful. The executive have on numerous occasions put forward a very strong case to the Dannevirke Association in connection with the matter, and yesterday, the latter body graciously agreed to adjust its dates for the next annual gathering so- that Pr.liiatua will not be again forced to hold its fixture on a. Saturday. The local Association has endeavoured to keep faith with local business people, but it has bad no alternative but to bold the gathering on the principal market day of the week. This inconvenience will now be removed, and moreover, the circuit of shows will be brought into line. Yesterday’s deputation to Danuevirkc must he complimented upon the result of its representations, and the Dr.nnevirk© Committee in turn must he commended for recognising the justice of Paliiatua’s claim. The new arrangement will be appreciated by stock breeders as well as the general public. The local Association lias had to encounter many difficulties dtir’ng its existence, hut it has gradually overcome obstacles and, won through. The annual report which has been circulated among members records n very successful year. A considerable amount of improvements have been carried out on tile showgrounds. The additional expenditure became necessary by the increased number of entries in certain of the stock sections. Generally, the Association is making headway, and doing a great d.eal to improve tlie bleeds of sheep and dairy cattle.
