The Pahiatua Herald. PUBLISHED EVERY EVENING MONDAY, AUGUST 20, 1928. THE PROGRESS OF PAHIATUA.

The marked progress which has taken place in the progress of Paliiatua. during the past two years has been the subject of very favourable comment by visitors to the town. The ■building trade has shewn considerable activity, greater than for many yeans past. This betokens undoubted confidence in the future of the town and district. Farms have also changed, hands at surprisingly good, prices, although it would be r. pity to create anything in the shape of a boom consequent on the optimistic outlook for the producer. The town of Pahiatua offers various inducements to retired farmers' to take up their permanent residence here Facilities are at their disposal which do not obtain in many towns of a similar or even larger size. It is r.n excellent centre, and as time goes on, is becoming more and more recognised as such. It behoves all citizens to always consider the welfr.re of their own town, and push its interests. There are now, it is pleasing to record, very few pessimists in the district. These were for years c. drag on the community, hut the spirit of advancement is now taking a strong hold, and there was never a t.me when the prospects seemed so buoyant.
