LADIES’ HOCKEY
W AIR A RAPA BEAT BUSH. Playing at Carterton on Saturday the Wniraiapa ladies defeated Bush by 5 goals to I. after a very good game. The first half was very evenly contested and created plenty of thrills for the speetatois. Both teams scored a goal each. Miss Henderson for Wairarapa and Miss Johnson for Bush. In the second spell Wairarapa showed their superiority and added another four goals to the total. Mi>~ F. Booth and Miss I. Booth scoring two each. Bush put up a plucky defence but the pace of their opponents was too much lor them. I In* Bush forwards played very well, hut were inclined to hang on to the hall too long. Wairarapa played a better game than they did aga list Feilding, the forwards especially. Miss Seymour was tried on the left wing and gave a good account of herself. The Booth sisters and Miss Henderson never missed ail opportunity. Miss Allan was the best half-back. Both ftill-backk played well.
W'airarapa will play a return match at Paliiatua on August 18.
