The President-elect Obregon has been assassinated.—Australian Press Association. (Received 11.25 a.m.) MEXICO CITY, July 17. Obregon’s, assassination occurred tB is afternoon at a banquet in a restaurant near Mexico City. He was shot five times through the body. The assassin, who is known only as Juan, has been imprisoned. President Calles hastened to the scene at the town of Sanangel. 12 miles south of Mexico City. Obregon, who was elected on July Ist was greeted on Sunday at one of the greatest political demonstrations in Mexican history on his return from his Sonora homo.
