QUARTERLY AIEETING OF OFFICE-BEAR ERS. The officials of the Pahiatua Alethoodist Circuit met at the Parsonage on Alonday evening. There was a good attendance. Apologies were received for the unavoidable absence of Ballanee and Alakornako representatives. As the outcome of communications sent to the ehairmau (Rev. C. A. Foston) it was unanimously resolved to make application for the services of Airs F. M. Cribb, a gifted evangelist, who is at present in the Auckland district, to hold a 10 days’ mission here at the end of September. The lady is very highly recommended by Dr. Ranston and other clergymen. Airs Col! is ter was welcomed as the offiicial Ladies Guild representative, She read a comprehensive report on the activities of the Guild, ic being of an interesting nature. Airs Drake reported an increase in the Sunday School roll; Mrs Foston spoke on the work of the Bible Class and the chairman reported that he had visited the Sunday School and Bible Class one recent Sunday afternoon, and he regarded the state of the work among the young as very gratifying. He said that Aliss Gibson was doing faithful service iin the Ballance Sunday School. Enquiry had been made regarding the resuscitation of the S.S. ax Alakornako, but the scholars lived a good distance apart. He further reported on the distribution of the Sustentation Fund appeal circular in certain parts of the Circuit. It was decided to hold Alakornako Church and Pahiatua Sunday School anniversaries during the next quarter. It was hoped, he said, to institute a boys’ big bottle drive in aid of the bread hill of the Alasterton Orphanage and later on to have a children’s gift egg Sunday for the same institution. The Peace Alanifesto and the League of Nations were commended by the chairman to all members and adherents. The meeting learned with regret of the crisis threatening the F.M,. work in the Solomon Islands because of financial stringency in New Zealand Sympathisers were asked to get in touch with Mr A. J. Patchett, F.AI. treasurer. There was brisk debate and a sharp division of opinion on daylight saving and its effedt on attendance at public worship. Mrs Foston was’ thanked for hospitality in providing supper.
