Speaking at tli e farewell tendered him by the Wellington Mauulacturers’ Association, Mi C. M. Bowden. General Manager of the W.F.C.A. Ltd., said lie would like to take some share in countering the undue development ol State and municipal trading essteiprise. While, lie said, there were some enterprises in which the Government and municipalities could engage, there were others in which their entry could not be accepted without reserve, and where thy did engage in business tlrev should be on even terms with the private trader. They should have the same responsibilities. liaKiities to pay rates and tapes. and meet other overhead c harge-, sue h ;.s limited liability companies ancl private traders had to meet, and be subject to tl.o same regulations.
