MEN'S HOCKEY ASSN. FORMATION IN BUSH. A meeting field in Mr L. T. Russell's saloon last evening to discuss the formation of a Men’s Hockey Association in the Bush was marked by considerable enthusiasm. Mr R. Cavanagh was voted to the chair. It wa s decided to call a general meeting on Tuesdav night next. Representatives wore present from Hamua, Newman. Eketaluina and Alfredtoii, and all declared tlie -prospects of raising teams In these districts to be \ery good. Tlie appointment of officials was left to tlie general meeting. PAHIATUA FIRE BRIGADE. NEW TROPHY DONATED. The monthly meeting of the Pahiatua Fire Brigade was held on Monday evening. Supt. W. Lawry presiding over a full muster o.f members. The local team which won the consolation event at the Fire Brigades’ Easter Demonstration at Mr.sterton, and was third in another event, donated ito prize money, totalling £4 10s, back to the brigade to be spent in the purchase of a challenge cup for competition among local biigadesmen. The invitation of the Foresters’ lodge to participate in a euchre tournament during the winter months was accepted. Deputy R. Stokes presented Sftipt. Lawry with the Hedges Memorial Shield and Russell Cup won by the latter in the last competition. Foreman Finn was presented with liis five years’ service medal. Accounts amounting to £T 7s 6d were passed for payment. AN EXCELLENT SALE. PAHIATUA STOCK MARKET. The Wairarapa Farmers Association, Ltd.. (Stock Department) report on the Pahiatua sale held on Tuesday as follows Wo yarded over 1100 sheep and a few pens of cattle, all lines being disposed of under the hammer. Buyers were present from the Wanganui, Feilding and Mauawatu districts.

A good line of shorn wether lambs, on account ot Mr J. D. Mathews, made 24s lid. We quote: 7 wethers 27s 3d. 34 do. 29s 6d 10 do. 31s 9d. ewes r.w. S.D. rams 16s Bd, 20 do. 27s 3d. 28 ewes r.w. Romney ram 21s. 30 do. 34 s 9ii. 9 do 36s 51 do. 37s 9d. 8 shorn ewe lambs 24s 7d. 40 do 24s 7d. 96 cto. 26s 6d, 71 shorn wether lambs 15s Bd, 82 do. 18s. 21 do. 21s. 22 do 225. 41 do. 23s Id. 200 do. 24s lid. 25 b.f. lambs ISs 6d. 2.5 do. 19s 2d. 14 do, 24s 4d, m.s. lambs 15s 4d. 12 heifers r.w. Jersey hull £3 15s, springing heifer £7 15s. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Aency, Co., Ltd., report:— At the weekly stock sale held at Pahiatua. on Tuesday, we submitted a good yarding of sheep to a good attendance o'! buyers.

Breeding ewes in lamb showed appreciation on value. We offered a line of 4-vr ewes in lamb to HD jam, which realised 395. Good lambs were in demand. All classes of sheep sold well up to late rates. S.D. ewes in lamb to Pedigree S.D. ram 375, and 7 2-th and 4-th ditto 4jgns. BOY S FINGER CUT. AXE FELiToX HAND. A painful accident be-fel Donald Jaques. the three-year-old son of Miami Mrs E. Jaques. the other day. Donald anil one of his brothers, who is a year older, were playing with an axe in the back-yard, when the bigger hoy let the sharp edge fall on Donald’s hand almost severing one of his fingers. The boy was admitted to the Pahiatua Public Hospital.
