The filial match for the Plunket Shield between AA'ellington and Auckland commenced at Eden Park today in brilliant weather. The wicket was in excellent condition appearin'* all ill favour of the batsmen. AVben therefore Wellington with its great team of batsmen was dismissed for 182 the feet carried with it a touch of sensationalism- Brice, the AA’ellington captain, who went in on the fall of the eighth wicket, made a meritorious stand and registered top score with 61. His partnership with James and Henderson took the- score from 96 to 182. AA'hen stumps were drawn for the day, Auckland had lost four w icketw for 146, Alills being top scorer with 63.
