DAIRY EXPORT CONTROL.

WARD ELECTIONS URGED

Electric Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON. Last Night.

Claims for an amendment of the Dairy Produce Export Control Act in the direction of substituting the ward system of election for the present system of election for the present system was presented to the Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture to-day by a large deputation representing dairy producers in all parts of the Dominion. Mn J. A. Nash introduced the deputation and said the producers felt they did not have the representation on the Board they were entitled to. Others also spoke, favouring the ward system. Mr Nosworthy said he was quite of opinion some change would have to be made, but he was not inclined to say much on the subject just uow, as the originally designed Bill provided for the college system of 1 election, hut the House of Representatives, of of the committees insisted upon an alteration ; hence the present system. The alteration proposed by the deputation would have to be considered by the same House which passed the existing legislation and he doubted whether it would lie worth while introducing an amendment.

“You would have had a better system than you have now, if I had had my way before,’’ said Mr Nosworthy.

Mu Coates said he would he pleased to have the matter considered in Cabinet.
