PUREBRED AYRSHIRES.
HEIFER SOLD FOR 874gns
Electric Telegraph—Press Association INVERCARGILL, Last Night. Two good reduction sales of purebred Ayrshire® were concluded today. The first sale was that of the Ivanhoe stud property, of Mr A. M. Weir, when, the top price for heifers was 87fgns, paid for Ivanhoe Lena, unbeaten in the show ring as a yearling, the purchaser being Mr Jas. Henderson, of Glenham. The highest priced Ivanhoe yearling bull was bought by Mr F. Mills, Hauers, at GOgns, after spirited competition. Prices were well maintained throughout.
The second sale was of Allandale Ayr shires, the property of Mr R. S. Weir. Individual prices were not so high, but the average was good. The top price bull was bought by Mr Donald McDonald, of Edendale, at 50 guineas, while the highest heifer went to another local breeder, Mr T. Dobbie, at 51gns. These sales attracted buyers from all over New Zealand and one animal was secured by Sir Harry Lauder.
