MARLBOROUGH RACING CLUB CROWN STAR WINS HANDICAP. Electric Telegraph—Press Association BLENHEIM, Last Night. The first day’s racing of the Marlborough Racing Club’s autumn meeting was held in ideal weather. There was a large crowd and the course was in good order. The tcutalisator handled £10,350 against £9467 for the first day last year. Results: — Hillersden Trot, (saddle) : May Reta 1, Ashley Belle 2, Welcome Boy 3. Won by four lengths. Time, 4.7 4-5. Waterlea Cup: Crown Star 1, Pronto 2, Kalakaua 3, Won by a long neck, half a length between second and third. Time, 2.15 2-5. Gpawa Welter: Bonatic 1, Ardfinnan 2, Bezau 3. Won by two lengths each way. Time, 1.29 3-5. Autumn Handicap: Benmure 1, Misgovern 2, Missland 3. Won by a head. Time, 1.15. Beaver Hack: Tempean 1, Sunbath 2, Solrino 3. Won by one and aquarter lengths. Time, 1.2 3-5. Winter Trot: Miss Mabel 1, Jim Beldon 2, Brandon 3. Won by four lengths, three lengths between second and third. Time, 3.44 3-5. Soldiers’ Handicap: Debate 1, Pink Rose 2, Sir Pam 3. Won by two lengths each way. Time, 1.30. TIMARU MEETING. TIMARU, Last Night. The South Canterbury Jockey Club’s Autumn Meeting was opened in perfect weather to-day. The tracks were .fast. The totalizator handled £16,028, compared with £15,761 for the corresponding day last year. J. R. Kaan, rider of Charlatan, in the Steeplechase, suffered a fracture of the base of the skull. A. Peart, rider of Greenstone in the same race, was slightly injured, both horses falling. The time for the Cup was a record for the track. Excellent racing was provided, and very close finishes were the order. Results :—- Tekapo Hurdles: Lord Ashlea 1, Petunia 2. Grim Joke 3. Won by three lengths. Time, 2.44 3-5. Gladstone Welter: All Gold 1, Ferino 2, Shandre 3. Won by a nose. Time, 1.43 1-5. Electric Stakes: Gold Brick i , Some Abbey 2. Soltoe 3. Won by half a length. Time, 1.1 2-5. Timaru Cup: Tarleton 1, Ravenna 2, Sunny Loch 3. Won by a long neck. Timel 2.4 4-5. Smitlifield Han die an: Gay Juliet 1, Ayrburn 2, Los Ambus 3. Won by a head. Time, 1.13 4-5. Otipua Steeplechase: Palencia 1, Golden Prince 2, Kipling 3. Won by six lengths. Time, 5.20. Roswill Handicap: Retrospect 1, Itonaki 2, Lord Leslie 3. Won by a reck. Time, 1.27. Doncaster Welter: Warhaven 1, Happy Days 2, Barn Owl 3. Won by a head. Time, 1.26 1-5.
