The aggregate amount sued for in the local Magistrate’s Court during the quarter ended March 31, 1923. was £616 Is lOd, and the total aoinunt recovered £442 13s. On me police side, IS persons were dealt with. The Magistrate presided over three sittings, and Justices sat nine times. The number of plaints issueu was 22.
The .members of the Municipal Ladies’ Croquet Club are holding a “gift shop” ill the Club buildings on Saturday. In the morning, Mesdames Brocket, O’Stvke, and Bailey will be in attendance, and in the afternoon Mesdames Lucas, Bentley, and Paget. There will be a large offering of cakes, jams, pickles. Hurt and pot plants, and several guessing competitions will be held during the day. The proceeds will -go towards the erection of a small shelter on the lawns for the convenience of players.
