The “New York Times” Washington correspondent says it is understood that the Federal Prohibition Commissioner, !Ur Haynes, lace l with the virtwal’y imposiSble task of enforcing prohibition, will ask President Harding to authorise the use of the naval forces to combat the activities of the rum smuggling fleet plying on the Atlantic coast, and enlist tlie aid of the various Governmental departments, notably the Immigration Service, and State Department, to co-operate in checking the fl-od of illicit liquors into the United States.
