There was excellent racing at Trentham all day, though the St. Leger proved an easy thing for Rapine, Zouave went to the front, at the start, and passing the stand the first time had charge of Rapine. Three furlongs from home Rapine ran up to Zouave and led into the straight, with .Many Kittle /coming fast. The leader ranged alongside Rapine at the distance, but the Martian gelditig came right away to win by six lengths, Many Kittle 10 lengths away. The Thompson Handicap was won brilliantly by Highland. From a beautiful start, Grotesque shot out. !j. 1 y.v Quesit, Highland bund King’s Trumpeter. At the six furlong post Quest was slightly in front of Highland, Roseday and Royal Blood. The latter took the lead at the half-mile from Quest, with Silver Peak tailing the field. Highland came away in the straight and won by a length and a half, a neck between, second and third, then came Cupidon and King’s Trumpeter. The weather was fine, but the track was slightly holding, as a result of recent rain" Tote £38,502, compared with £39,110 on the corresponding day last year.
