GAMES NIGHT
MAN G ATAIN OKA HALL. Last night, in the MangatainokaLibrary Hall, there was an enthusiastic gathering for the first Games .night of the season. ! There was an entertaining pro- - gramme of events, which included euchre, shooting, ping-pong, corkj bobbing and dancing. Mrs Greig and I Mr Roberts secured the first prize in I euchre, while Mrs Clarke and Air M. Clarke were unlucky enough to win the “booby” prize. Some good shooting was done, considering the uncertain light. Air Orr I proving the winner in the “shootoff. ’ ’ Ping-pong was as popular as ever, and lasted the whole of the evening. Excellent play was witnessed in a number of matches, which augured well for the form on future evenings. In the final, Mr Orr defeated Air G. Stephens by 20 —14. The cork-bobbing competition afforded much amusement, Air E. 11. Harvey securing a substantial win by rescuing 36 corks from the water-tub in one minute. In the latter part of the evening dancing was indulged m, music being very capably supplied hv Alisses C. Walkley and A. Skilton,. and Messrs C. Chatwin, Greaves and R. Nicol. The ladies supplied a' very dainty supper. It was decided that in conjunction with Kobinui, Ngaturi. and Makairo, Mangatainoka shon'd give every aid to their Queen in the coming carnival.
