A garden party in aid of St. Peter s Anglican Church was held todav in, the Vicarage grounds. There ay ere stalls of Guild needlework, home-made cakes, and sweets, produce. Afternoon tea was procurable at the grounds.
At the Pahiatua Farmers’ Association’s sale yards there are ninety slieep pens, * twenty-nine of which are concreted. In addition to this, the,re is an up-to-date dip and cattle pens, numbering 72, which, together with three races and six drafting Tie ns, brings tlio total up to eightyone pens in all. Twenty-seven of the latter are concreted. A fresh agreement has been drawn up between the Borough Council and the Fire Brigade. It was before the Council last evening, and certain provisions of tlie agreement were explained by Crs. jVlorris, Bentley and White. ~At the suggestion of the Mayor, one or two amendments were matte, and then, on the motion of Crs. Morris and Bentley, the agreement was adopted, the new regulations to come into force on the Ist of April next.
