DETERMINED SUICIDE.

WELL KNOWN RESIDENT.

FOUND HANGING FROM A BEAM.

A -sensation was caused in town this morning by th© discovery of.the body of a well-known resident, Ernest John Meade, a--, married mail, wjilh a family of two children, under circumstances that point- to determined suicide.

Meade, a middle-aged man, was ill tile employ of the W.F.C.A. as driver of the firm’s motor lorry. As he did not appear at work at, the usual time this morning, 8 o’clock, deceased, as -a rule, being very -punctual, inquiries were made, and it was ascertained that he had left his home in Mann Street at an early hour this morning, informing his wife that he was going on a special trip to a certain country district. About 10.30 a.m. the firm’s storeman, Mr Frank Beaufort, discovered the body of Meade hanging from a beam in a storeroom adjoining the stable. Deceased had evidently obtained access to the building through the adjoining stable, tore away some wire netting in a corner of the .storeroom, and then proceeded along one of the big beams in the centre. Upon the discovery of the body Dr. Dawson was immediately summoned, but life had apparently been extinct for some time. 'i lie police were also promptly on the scene. The body was removed to' the morgue t,o await the inquest.
