One hundred and seventy American marines from the Huron have arrived to protect the American Uegation. The British Legation guard is also being strengthened. There is littlo hope of averting trouble between the belligerent Chinese factions, although efforts at mediation continue. The largest exodus of tourists from the city is occurring’. Three thousand of eneral Wu Pei Fu’s soldiers are reported to be marching on Pekin.
