There* was a good attendance of buyers and large yardings in bothcattle sind sheep at the Fielding salo yesterday. The market showed a. much better tone in sheep of ail classes, and a good demand for fat stock in both caxtle ami sheep. SHEEP. Hie prices all round. foj* sheep showed an improvement, with a decided rise for fats. The prices for the latter showed an increase of from 2s to 3s on late sales’ rates. This was largely accounted for by tlie fact that a number of outside buyers were operating, thus promoting keener competition than has been the rule lor a number of weeks past. So mo very choice lines w ere offered, and for these tlie bidding was keen. One pen of extra good white-faced fat lambs brought 16s 7d, while fat wethers went as high as 17s 9d. Fat ewe** made up to 16s Gd. Average prices for tlie sale were as under:— Fats: B.F. lambs 11s to 15s Id, w .f. lambs 10s Gd to 12s Gd, wether lambs IDs lid to 11s 7d, extra good w-.f. lambs 16s 7d, wethers 16s Gd to 17s 9d, ewes 12s to 16s Gd, two and four-tooth mixed sexes to 15s. running with Romney rams 7s 9d to 8s 3d, two-tooth ewes 11s s.m. ewes in lamb to b.f. rams 14s to 15s Id. CATTLE. The cattle pens contained some very nice lines, and there was a good representative yarding of forward * nod store beasts. The presence of outside buyers influenced to some extent the prices for fats, but the demand in stores was confined to particularly choice lots. A good line of forward four-year bullocks was passed in at £7 7s Gd. There was good competition fox an especially nice lino of light Hen-ford fat cows, which, realised from £'l 71s 6d tr* £6 Gs The dairy stock offered was not greatly sought after, as there veto only one or two really good beasts offering.
