THE RAGING COMMISSION

VISIT TO PAHIATUA. The Racing Commission., which is going into the matter of extending the number of days of racing enjoyed, in the Dominion visited Pahiacua yesterday and inspected the Pahiacua Racing Club’s course where the President and Stewards of the Club waited on the Commission as a deputation in support of the club's application for a second day permit. The commission comprises the following gentlemen : Alessrs Fred Earl, K. C. (Auckland, chairman), AV. E. Bidwil 1 (sheep fanner, Featherston), W. H. S. Aloorliou.se (solicitor, Wellington) .T. H. AA’illain.s (solicitor, Christchurch), and Major S. Rice (Auctioneer, AV.vndham), P. Keilehor (secretary), and D. C. Cameron (official rejxirter). The Racing Club was represented hv Air Jas AloCardle (President), Air P. Tulloch (vicepresich'nt), - ) aind the following stew aids-:—Messrs AV. Kod-d-elf, \V. Eeoleton G. D H Smith, R. J Smith, It. AJ itched. AV. T. Boyd, S. P. Girdwood, and Colin \i acDoi-ia Id. Alessrs H. Cornelius (Countv Chairman) and P. Thomson also supported the club’s application. The AVondlands’ Hunt Club which also placet! its position before tho Commission, was represented by Messrs S. V. Rodney (Master), S. T. Tinnier 4 s ‘*^’ e *P' r .v), and AY. Arrow, oiio of the oldest riding members. None of the proceedings were open to the nress.

Tho Commission after concluding proceedings at the course, hunched at tin' Commercial Hotel, where Messrs Udv r.'iid Anderson, representing the Tlukanui Trotting Chib , waited upon them.

Later the Commission visited AA’oodville, where they met 11 1 o President (Afr S. Bolton) and Stewards of the AA r oodville Jockey Club and inspected the course. Tho Commission is now proceeding right through Ha.wkes Bay visiting all the race-course centres to Napier. It will afterwards* return to AYcllington via Ashhnrst, Palmcrs+ou North, Foilding, Fox'ton.
