METHODIST ANNIVERSARY.

YEARS WORK REVIEWED

The anniversary concert of the Pahiatua Methodist Church was held last evening. Tlve fine moonlight night enabled visitors to come from H ika—- ; nui, Konini, Ballance Nikau. and I Makomako. and the church wa- comI fortably filled. The. Rev. H. Cot-tom . presided, and short addresses were de- | livered by the chairman, the Rev. B. I Welsh and Rev. H. J. Haelam (Palmerston North). The bulk of the mui steal programme was provided by Mis Print and Rev. Mr Has him. They were associated in vocal and instruI mental duets (violin and piano I and ; each, in addition, gave several indij vidual items. These were all very 1 greatly appreciated, and heartily ap- | plauded, the two performers being generally re-called. Rev. Mr Haslaxn and Rev. Mr Welsh each contributed a number of recitations both grave and gay.

The annual report presented by the Secretary of the Church Trust (Mr J. J. Boagey) referred to the mission held during tine year, the formation of a C.E. Society, stressed the necessity of the people being regular in worship, alluded to the continued excellent services of the S.S. Superintendent (Mr W. A. Sedgwick) and the Misses Bottom ley and other teachers, the great lose sustained by the departure of Mrs A. F. Ore-swell and the valuable help rendered for many years by tho organist (Mr W. A. Bocig>y i. Many of the young men of the church were at the front, and one of them had recently received promotion on •the field. Sympathy was expressed with those who had relative- either! killed or wounded.

The chairman supplemented the report, remarking on the faithful service o fthe Trust Secretary. who himself had two sons at the front. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to all helpers, and afterwards refreshments were hiind<d round. Tlie anniversarv celebrations will be continued on Sunday when Rev.
