THE NEW TROUBADOURS.

Tlu> New Troubadours, a company of Dannerirke Amateurs. which is giving performance- on behalf of the returned Maori soldiers' fu.nd -were greeted by a large audience in the King’s Theatre on Thursday overling. The performers wore black and wni*e costumes and both the concerted and individual items were very well received, eliciting considerable applause, also re-oalls. The programme was varied, and included solos, duets, choruses, instrumental selecrton*. comic sketches, a tableau and comic patter. The star performer. Mr J. Percival Dodds proved versatile, and in his several appearances, he was encored by an appreciative audienoe. The other members of the company, comprising Miss Fergus, Miss Hill, Miss Cuff. Mr J- Hood (tenor), Mr C. Douglas (baritone) Mr J. Drummond (violinist), and Miss G. Enerson (pianiste) and the two Merrys (acrobats) had no reason to complain of the heartiness of t-he reception accorded them in their several numbers. The individual performers displayed a good deal of talent, and on the whole a bright, excellent entertainment was the result. During the singing by Miss Fergus of "Whoso Boys,' a patriotic song, coins were showered on the stage, and other lady members of the eompanv pe-'sed the hat round among the audience. An auction of sw-dp-ts made by the Troulxadour lathes was conducted by Mr H. Griffith, and it realised £l2. Subsequently, wiuvenier flajyi (presented by Mrs Nicholl) wore sold and fetched £2. The latter amount, it was announced, would be devote, to the Pa hint ua Patriotic Fund. Mr Dodds returned thunks to the local public for their support.
