THE MORATORIUM ACT.
A CLAIM DISALLOWED
An interesting case came before Mr Justice', Chapman, in Chambers, at the Supreme Court in Masterton, states the “Age.’!
The Bank of New Zealand and others applied for permission, under the' Mortgage Extension Act, for power to sell ia property at Atea, in the Eketahuna district , owned ✓by one Purdie, the principal having fallen due on a mortgage and was unpa|id. Mr T, M. Page, who appeared for Purdie contested the claim on the grounds that at the present time money was h|ard to obtain, the War Loan having made the financin'! position most stringent.
His Honour refused the application of the Bank, and ordered the proceedings to stand down for four months, though power was given to bring forward the proceedings at the expiration of that time. No costs were allowed.
