THE AUTUMN MEETING

SECOND DAY’S RACING

The concluding day of the W oodville Club’s autumn gathering was held yesterday and was a pronounced success. Mr Rose, the acting-secre-tary, again had everything working smoothly, and some good racing was seen Tangihou, who won the New Zealand Cup, and has since iaced unsuccessfully, won the Autumn Handicap in convincing style, and returned his supporters a handsome dividend of over a quarter of a century. The starter, Mr O'Connor, was in good form, and made real good starts. Speculation was again brisk, £13,131 being passed through, the machine, as against £12.800 Aor the game day last year, making a grand -total of £26.162, as compared with £26,576 last year. Going out of the straight Taringamutu took the lead, which she held until the straight was reached, where Orleans challenged, and looked a likely winner, but Tangihou, finishing in the middle of the course, won by a length and a half.
