AUTUMN MEETING—FIRST DAY.
Tin' autumn mooting of the Woodvilk> Jockey Club was held on the Club’s well appointed course yesterday, and was fairly well attended. The racing throughout the day was ox * very high order and speculation per medium ot the totalisntor was brisk, the Mini of £ 13,031 being handled by the suit! Battletide, Bea Score, Martial Air. A fine start, from which Mahzoltov wias first to ■how out, closely attended by Maryland. and they ran in this order until the straight was reached. when Bainusdale t came with a rush and won easily- by two lengths. Time. lmin. 14 4-osec. HACK HANDICAP HURDLES, of 100 sovs; 1| miles over seven flights of hurdles. Mr J. S. Adams’ Arlington, 6yrs, 9.13 (H. Tr’cJdebank) 1 Mr A. Carroll’s Captain Mackv, 6yrs. 10.13 (F. Flynn) 2 Mr J. Quirke’s Keynote, aged, 9.0 (L. Traill) 3 Also started: Kauwairoa, Tarero, Golden Water, Gladful and Ceylon. A very fine race. Kauwairoa was slow to find his feet at the start, but soon rushed to the front, where he was joined by Keynote. Arlington, however. was always handy, and when the straight was reached took command •ud wen by a length and a half from the fast-finishing Captain Macky. Time. 3min. 23sec.
