Loro Chelmsford, who has been appointed to succeed Viscount Hardingc as Viceroy of India, is » comparatively young man, he having been horn in 1868. He is a barrister by I rofession, and was educated at Winchester (Aillege and Magdalen College, Oxford. He has been a member of the London School Hoard and the London County Council. 1nW905 he was appointed (Governor of (Queensland, and in 1 >f> Governor of New South Wales He is a Knight of Grace of St. John, Jerusalem, in ■England, and is Hon. Colonel of the Australian Infantry. lie is also a Captain of the Ith Hnttalion Dorset Regiment.
