FOB SOLDIERS AND BELGIANS.

The locwl Ladies' Committee continues to receive and despatch gifts tor the men on active service and also lot the distressed Belgians. Last week the Mayoress (Mrs J. D. C. Crewe) and Mrs Tosswiil (bon. secret arv) packed up parcels tor conveyance by the last transports. One case contained nineteen parcels addressed to: Sergeant A. H. Eager, Sapper C. CL K. Fear. Trooper G. F. Rawson, Private R, Lit tier (2 parcels). Sergeant R. G. 1 . Fear. Trooper Harold Martin. Sergeant H. J Thompson; Private R. A. Hill. Private J. A. Juno. Private I*. O. Gibbes. Private C. Stevenson. Trooper H. A. Martin. Private R. Littler. Trooper A. O. Duffy, Pont de Koubbeh Hospital. Two eases were also packed for the Belgians containing the following articles: No. 1 cas**-—4O children's petticoats. 13 children's pants, 3 stays and pants. 3 pairs stays. 14 chemises. 6 flannel chemises. 16 singlets. 2 shawls, 3 bibs. 9 pairs socks, 1 cap. 6 babies’ gowns, 4 feeders, 1 barrie. (5 pairs booties, 3 sleeping suits, i boy - pants, 4 boys shirts. 5 ninalores. 2 jerseys; No. 2 cast I —4B children s dresses. 8 jerseys and skirts, 16 blouses. 4 dressing .jackets, 4 costume-. 3 one-piece dresses, 6 skirts. 1 petticoat. 17 coats. Two anonymous parcels have been received fof the Belgians, also one from Mrs W. A. Hall, ot Manilla. A piircel containing socks, etc., has boon received from Mrs Gregorio.- Gorge End, for the Pahiatua Branch of the British Red-Cross Society: also 12 pillow slips from Mrs Weston.

A letter has been received front Wellington stating that gilt parcels /for the men on active service will be taken free on all the transports leaving New Zealand. The date of the sailing of the next transport w ill bo notifitsl in flue coursv
