THE ANNUAL SHOW.

SOME KEEN COMPETITION

The indications are that there will be some very keen competition in the Romney sheep class at the Pahiatua Show on Friday. The entry is the largest yet received by the Association for this section, and amongst the exhibitors appear the names of some well known sheep farmers, including Messrs J. E. Hewitt, W. Mitchell. R. Haliburton, A. McKay, A. D. Eglinton and Forlong and Suisted. Mr A. McKay informed the secretary of the Association yesterday that it is his intention to donate a ten guinea cup for this section next. year. It is also likely that another well known farmer, who has the interests of the Show at heart, will donate a similar valuable cup for the Lincoln class.

A stepping the chain competition has been added to the programme this year and Mr Angus Dron has b<-on plaaoed in charge of this event. Tlie sheep and fat beast guessing competitions will be controlled by Mestys A. McKay, A. Dron, A, Ross, P. Tliomson and L. A. Ward—a formidable quartette of battlers Each will be armed with a book of tickets, and the one disposing of the largest number is to receive a decoration.

Catalogues of the Show are now. available, and may be obtained at the office of the secretary.

At a meeting of the sub-committee of the Association, held yesterday afternoon, final arrangements were made, for the gathering. Referring to the prospects of the Show, the President (Mr Charles Avery) expressed the opinion that, with a fine day he felt quite sure they would have n record gathering. Mr L.
