A novelty in the competitions to be decided at the Dannevirko A. and P. Show next week a bare-back riding competition for men only. This should be productive of much amusement. The minimum weight or the rider must be ten stone,- anil the test will be over whatever course and jumps the stewards may decide. The other competitions on both days—men's driving, turning maiden hunters, leaping wire jump, hunting style, ladies’ driving, pony jumping, hunters’ competition (open) and the one for women and others should furnish spectators with sufficient attraction to keep their interest sustained throughout. Tire grounds are in fine fettle at present, catering lias been entrusted to competent liandi?, side-shows will be represented bettor than ever, and the committee has aimed at giving exhibitors and sight-seeing patrons satisfaction in every possible way. Special train arrangements have been made to enable visitors from Hawke’s Bay and the Wairarapa to attend at a minimum of inconvenience.
