LIQUOR FOR SOLDIERS.
The amoqpt of drunkenness. preva.il. ent among soldiers in some ports lately has been verv noticeable. In some <*nses this is due to the weßmea ning but ill-advisKl action of the public m shouting for soldiers on tT 6 or at },ome on furlough. Tn other eases the soldiers do not require any particular inducement or prompting to have more drink than is wise. The Defence authorities have found it necessary to issue a further no M<*e m regard to the oipplv of liquor to the forces. There is a penaltv for any person who sells any intoxicating' liquor to soldiers in uniform for consumption elsewhere than on the premises wher e it is .old. and persons are also forbidden to act as agent tor the purchase of liquor. No liquor must he taken into camps, troop or hospital trains.
