NORTH SALES BLOCKED.

The second wool sale of the season commenced to-day. The total offerigs were 24,777 bales, compared with 23,618 bales at the corresponding sale last year. The buyers’ benches were welj filled' and competition was exceptionally keen for practically every lot, except earthy and very wasty wools. It is expected that all overseas wool purchased at this sale will be got away before the end of next month.

Buyers have decided to postpone northern sales till they can see what shipping space is available for all the purchases in Dunedin. Compared with December sales the values to-day were merino super 163 d ,par to -jd dearer), medium to good 12Jd to 14Jd (Jd to id dearer), inferior lid to 12d (id to Id dearer), ha If bred super 18 id to 21d (par), medium to good Ibid to 18fd (par to id dearer), inferior 13id to 15£d (par to id dearer), crossbred 13id to 15d (par to id dearer), crossbred super 18d to 19|d (id dearer), medium to good 16d to 17Jd (id to fd dearer), inferior 12td to loid (id to I<l dearer), pieces super 16d to 18 ’d (par to id dearer), medium to good 12d to loid (id dearer), inferior 9d to Hid (id dearer), pieces all grades id |to Id dearer.
