WIRTHS CIRCUS.

“Wars may come and wars may go, but Wirtlis goes on for ever.” At least this is what it looks like, for Wirths’ Circus opens in Pahiatua on Tuesday, February Bth, location near Bridge, bringing the strongest combination ever produced in any circus in Australasia. The Company comprises performers of greatly varying kinds, and each is a star in the particular line he lias adopted. A world's tour by a representative of the firm has insulted in their engagement. Petrograd, London, New York, and Paris have been visited, and the bright star of the moment secured in order that Australians may keep up with the times. Foremost amongst the attractions are the Wirth Family and Captain Huling’s performing seals. The former com pany left Australia five years ago, and 1 their progress through England, America and the Continent was simply a series of triumph!?. The chief attration in their turn is May Martin Wirth, an Australian grl yet in her ’teens, hut who has no one to com-j pare with her as a rider in the world. Her somersaults from horse to horse and other equestrian feats, caused a sensation in London and New York' where before her arrival her feats were pronounced impossible. Her fame reached the ears of Their Majesties, King George ami Queen M ary, the -result being a “command” performance at Olympia, London, and the little Australian girl was especially praised. The act “A Circus Modern,” is exceptionally clever in conception and execution, and it is safe to say that nothing of the sort has eveer been seen in Australia before.

Huling’s seals mark quite a new departure in performing animals.- Their intelligence is human, but the feat they perforin is superhuman. They can juggle with balls and bars, juggle on a galloping horse and play tunes on electric bolls, and their combination

“The Seal Band,” is excruciatingly funny. This act comes direct from th«. Million Dollar Pavilion, Atlantic City.

From the Circus Devinge, Moscow, come the Emestonian and Novikoff troupe of aerial artistes, many new departures being noticeable in this particular line. The name “The Human Aeroplanes” is well deserved. The Loretta Twins are two lady horizontal bar performers, the only two in the world, and their performance is much better than most men’s. Grace, strength aml virility are features of the act, and everywhere they go they are accorded an enthusiastic reception. The Louvains on the aerial wire have many now things to show, and Danny Voiding, the English Jockey Rider, stands alone in his particular line. Mussa Marnier, the Russian Cossack from Petrograd, gives an excellent idea of the war methods of those fine soldiers, the Cossacks. His act is a thrill from first to last. The bevy of new Clowns, Dan and Bebe, Joe and George, Fidem the Charlie Chaplin Clown, and August keep up their end well, and down to the finest detail the circus is a circus, and a lot more. The Zoo is open from 4 to 5, the seals and sea linns being fed during that time. This is a sightworth seeing.
