PAHIATUA OFFICER IN EGYPT.
SOME IMPRESSIONS. Lieut. Noel Grant, formerly of Pali iatna, writes from Zeitoun Camp. Cairo, on the ,23rd August, as follows : —The Adjutant for the Mounted Brigade is Ca.pt. Munro, who was Stock Inspector in Woodville »me years ago. We had a talk about the rivers around Woodville, and if anyone had hearl us they would have jumped to the conclusion that Woodville was a perfect paradise to live in. Fam ab-solutely-satisfied that you people have nothing to growl about. I would sooner Jive there than in Albany, Colombo, Bombay, or even in Egypt, and .from what I can hear, it is a much better plact than anywhere in Turkey. Egypt is a lovely place to look at, but you have to look sideways at the fruit, water, tobacco, etc. If you sit down, you take the risk of being bitten by a snake, scorpion, or some oilier vile crawler. The natives are a filthy lot, and if you want to look at some view for more than two seconds, you are compelled to hold your nosq.
