WILDWOOD, Palm Bell, Sire Wildwood 2.24 imported, the greatest speed producer yet known in Australasia. Dam Palm, Bell (the dam of Wild Palm) is a half-sister to Almont and Belmont M., etc., by Brooklyn out of Puella (dam of Almont. etc.), by Berlin (imported), out of Messenger Maid (imported). PALM BELL up to the present has bred five horses -with good track performances: Croesus (2.19 and 4.46), and Wild Palm on a small track in mud 5.3 for two miles, winning the Greymouth Cup, “Atlanta,” “Midas” and “Pactolus.” PALM is a fine upstanding tv dark brown horse, 16 hands, and shows a great deal of quality, and is one* of the best tempered horses in the Dominion. A reference to the tabulated pedigree of Wild Palm shows that he has the much-prized Electioneer-Wilkes cross, or, as the Americans term it. the Golden Cross, he being by Wildwood, who was a grandson of the mighty Electioneer, whilst his g.g. sire on the dam’s side is the equally mighty George Wilkes. WILD PALM on his dam’s side claims some of the fastest horses in the Australasian colonies, including Almont, who holds the world’s record for three miles. Belmont M. the sons of Puella, the queen of brood mares, that is a full sister of Fxaulien, the dam of the ex-champion Fritz, Fredrick, The Heir and Prinz. WILD PALM is one of the best gaitod horses in the Dominion, and exceedingly gan*>. Ho has never required a boot during his racing career. He has to his credit 11 wins, 3 seconds, 1 third, and twice unplaced, and his first six starts at Greymoutli were six wins; and to show what, a good stayer ho has proved himself is by winning seven two-mile races and running second in two two-mile races also winning four mile-ninl-n-half races, a rid bis performance of 5.3, won by fifteen lengths, is no measure of his speed, as it was done on a track less than half a mile in length. His private trial shows that he was endowed with (2.22) speed. His yearlings are looking exceptionally promising on the Coast, and breeders have the privilege of securing this fine lin'd sire at a low figure. TER.MR: £4 4s, payable Ist January, 1916.
