PRIDE OF ELLESMERE js a beautiful dark bay horse of immense substance and quality, standing about 17 hands high, on very short legs, with great, broad, flat, clean bone and strong sound hardy feet, combined with splendid action and quality, such as is rarely met with in draught horses PRIDE OF ELLESMERE, who will be three years old in December, 1914, has already proved his merit in the show ring, having been awarded first prize .at the Ellesmere (Canterbury) show out of a ring of thirteen competitors. His sire, Premier’s Pride was imported from Scotland, and was the winner of numerous first awards in the South Island show rings., ilean, one of his dams, was awarded first prize as a three-year-old at the Ellesmere show, beating Boag s Magnolia. She performed a similar feat at the same show as a five-year-old. Boag’s Magnolia was awarded first .prize at the Christchurch show each year she was beaten by Jean, at Ellesmere.
