WOOL, SKIN AND HIDES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report t—There was a good attendance of buyers at our Wellington sale, when we offered a fairly large catalogue. The demand for wool was limited; sheepskins and hides of good quality sold exceptionally well, | and we estimate that for sound hides . we obtained a farthing per lb higher price than last sale. 'Good sound fullwoolled sheepskins sold up to 6*d, but for inferior and damaged low prices had to be accepted. The market for tallow is very weak. Quotations: Wool, crossbred medium coarse 6jd to 6|d, pieces and bellies 2Jd to 4£d, locks and pieces 3id, crutchings, medium to good 4Jd to 6Jd, orutchings, seedy and inferior 3id to ojd, lambs 5Jd. Hides were firm at an advance of Jd for ox and 3-Sd to Id for cow hides. Skins were about 2d per lb lower, which must be considered very satisfatory. as London reports a fall of : lid per lb at yesterday’s sale. Taking into consideration the increased ! freight and insurance charges the j market is on a full parity with London. j The Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-opera-j tive Association, Ltd., Wellington, re_ j port, that their fortnightly sale of j wool, sheepskins, hides, tallow, etc.. ! were held on Friday.
