ROTORUA MAORI CHOIR.
The members of the famous Maori Ctioir, of Rotorua, consisting of over forty performers, will give another of their unique entertainments in the King’s Theatre. Pahiatila, on Monday night. This great company, whose headquarters are at Rotorua, is made up of four distinct sections the famous choir, the orchestra, the champion haka and poi dancers, and the tableaux company. Sir Rider Haggard, the literary giant, says no 1 bullet he ever saw surpassed the beauty and interest of tins great poi scene. The Sydney Morning Herald gave <i column in their praise, saving among other things:—“Nothing can surpass the voices of the natives. Theirs is not the singing of the professional, with its clear-cut polish, but the true natural warbling of the bird, who sings because he must, singing that rise's full and clear and then seems to drop from the sky so softly as to In' more than human : a ringing so wild and pathetic as to make one weep, hut a singing to which that of all the Melbas in the world is incomparable.” Such is the Maori concert.
