Mr Asquith, replying to a deputation of Commoners, promised to submit to Cabinet a suggestion that Government should erect a special pavilion at Panama Exposition, which would be the calling point for Britishers from all parts of the Empire. He intimated that Cabinet is likely to consent as it would not. commit Government to much expenditure. He deprecated the suggestion that the refusal to participate was a slight on the United States.
