CITY MUNICIPAL WORKS. Electric Telegraph—Press Association Wellington, Last Night. Speaking at the installation ceremony to-day the Mayor, Mr J. P. Luke, foreshadowed big loan proposals for various works spreading over a number of years. The total amount involved is over £300,000 and of this £220.000 is estimated to be required for general works, including a traffic tunnel at Hatuitai £70,000, and for wood blocking £61,000, and the. balance for stirburhan street improvements. parks and baths. A tramway loan of £9,600 is required for various duplications and extensions of tracks, news cars and sheds. Special expenditure on tramways and motor 'busses amounting to £21,000 is contemplated out of the revenue.
