A SCHOOL WANTED.
FOR MANGATAINOKA BLOCK. THK SETTLERS’ ENTERPRISE. The settlers in the Mangatainoka Riock are desirous of getting a school started in the settlement. A meeting of those interested was held the other day, when it was decided to set np a committee with instructions to make representations to the Wellington Education Board. Mr F. K. Broad was appointed chairman and Mr Bairstow secretary pro. tern. Mr G. Kerr offered a portion of a newly-erected building for use for school purposes until such time as a schoofl building is erected. It was decided to inform the Education Board of Mr Kerr’s offer and ask its approval : also to request the Board to appoint a teacher. It was stated that there were fifteen children of school age at present residing in the Block, while it was anticipated that there would be twenty-five pupils available in the spring, as several more families intended settling in the district in the course of a few months. The settlement is some five miles distant from the Mangatainoka school.
