PICTURE CENSORSHIP.
Electric Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. Sydney, Last N ight. As a result of an interview between the cinematograph managers and Hon. M r Flowers, a compromise has been reached regarding censorship. The Government will now accept the censorship of London and New York, but reserves the right to condemn a film even though it is passed in those cities. ’Die present regulations will apply with locally produced films, and those submitted in London and New Y'ork. Pictures exhibited in Sydney will be permitted in the country. 'Hie regulations will apply to pictures shown in the country before Iteing produced in the city. The period of notice of programmes has been reduced to 'ix hours, instead of twentyfour. The Minister has introduced a new regulation, whereby he may authorise any film passed by the censor and recognised by him. Such films need not be screened for the information of the police.
