PAHIATUA STOCK SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd., and Reduced, report having held their weekly t-al'e in the Mangahao yards yesterday, when they offend a medium entry of cattle to a small attendance of y buyers. No doubt due to the very wet / hay, prices were somewhat easier, -consequently a large number of cattle were passed in unsold. The following are some of the prices realised Empty heifers £3 9s to_£4 10s, heifers at drop £5 10» to £7 2s bd, dairy cows at profit heifers with calf at foot £3 17s bd, yearling steers £2 12s, hulls £3 to £4.

ANNUAL HEIFER FAIR

Dalgety and Co., reporting on their annual empty dairy heifer fair, held yesterday, state: —We had a veiy large entry of first-class dairy heifers. The total yarding was the largest seen here for a number of years, the capacity of both the Mangahao road yards being taxed to accommodate them. There was a good attendance of buyers in spite of the steady downlour, n. number corning from outside districts. Choice sorts of dairy heifers were keenly competed for, and sold readily under the hammer «t owners’ reserves, but small shorthorn heifers were hard to quit, and priors were in the buyers’ favour. We sold a large majority of our entry at the following prices: -Two-year Holstein •ro« heifers £5 to £.5 Ids, Jersey er<i«K do. £4 to £4 15s, shorthorn cross 63, £3 5s to £3 15s forward cows £3 lbs to C 4 3s bd, hulls (2-year-old) £3 1« to £4 Is.
