Electric Telegraph—Press Association. \Vanganui, June 11. A largely-attended meeting oi the local branch of the National Dele nee League was held last evening. A large number o( ladies were present. It was decided to form a women’s branch and a Red Cross corn-. It was also decided that the citizens of Wanganui *sliould provide a championship to he competed tor annually by the primary school cadets throughout the Dominion. The meeting was very enthusiastic, and a large number of members were enrolled. Tlie returns of the electric tramways for tlie six months ending June 9th show that since the installation 601,357 passengers were carried. The net revenue was £4297. which, alter providing interest and sinking fund, and maintenance, leaves a small credit balance. The number oi passengers carried per day was 3379. The revenue was 12.52 d per car mile. A most magnificent meteor was seen at the heads last eyeing at 9.10. travelling cast ana west. Tlie explosion sounded like artillery in the straits, and the meteor in its flight lit up tlie country for miles around.
