POSTPONEMENT OF PARLIAMENT.
AIEETING GF PROTEST PROPOSED. Electric Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, June 10. A meeting of protest against the postponement of Parliament is to l>e held at tlie xowu Hall on Tuesday evening. The Mayor will preside, and all the Wellington city members ot Parliament will speak. The meeting is the outcome of a gathering of commercial and professional men held yesterday. Tlie proceedings were then of n private nature, hut it is reported that there was a unanimous opinion expressed that the postponement of the business of the country until September or October next in order to allow the Prime Minister to go to London was altogether an undesirable tiling to do. It was resolved to put the matter before the citizens, hence the meeting. Air W. F. Massey, when approached hv the promoters, favoured th<' idea of a meeting. The meeting yesterday agreed that the proceedings should he of the nature of a citizens’ protest, and not associated with the Opposition party as such. Tlicer is a probability, however, of Mr Massey being one ol the speakers.
