IMPERIAL PRESS CONFERENCE.

While the delegates attending the Imperial Press Conference were at Mansion House the Victoria League entertained at luncheon the ladies of the party at the Hyde Park Hotel. The Countesses of Jersey and Crewe, Ladies Beaconsfield ana Northoote, Miss Balfour, Miasdames Harcourt, Lyttelton, Gladstone and Austen Chamberlain were the hostesses.

The Labour Party entertained the delegates at tea on the terrace of the House of Commons. No speeches wene made.

Later the delegates and their ladies were driven in motor cars to the Ranelagh Club, where Airs Pearson entertained them at a banquet. Air Pearson, who had done much in organising the conference, was absent undergoing an operation to his eyes. The beautiful grounds were illuminated.

Newspapers of every parity continue to devote columns to the conference, and leading articles appear daily. Alany of the delegates are anxious to restrict to-day’s discussion to literature, in order to continue the Imperial defence debate. The Daily Alail comments upon the astonishing unanimity displayed at the conference upon the navy, though the subject is fraught with aji the elements of politcal controversy: Sir Edward Grey agrees with Lord Rosebery, Air Balfour with Sir Edward Grey, and Air Haldane with Air Balfour.
