Somerset, in their first innings, made 93. The wicket was excellent. Th© attendance of the public at the opening of the match was meagre. The weather was threatening.

The County team made a short stay, the innings lasting only an hour and forty minutes. The second wicket fell for 21, the fourth for 42, and the sixth for 62. The innings was over by luncheon.
