THE PALMERSTON RAID
■CHINESE REMANDED. Electric Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, July 20. Ah Young and Ah Tin, the Chinese who were arrested during last night’s raid on an alleged opium-smoking den, were before the Court this morning on a charge of resisting the police while in the execution of their duty. They we re remanded until Monday in rnii.g next, the police intimating that there would be two further charges preferred against them—one for having opium in their possession, and the other of having smoked opium.
