PAHIATUA RACING CLUB
A meeting of stewards of the above club was held last evening in Messrs Hare and Davidson’s office. There were present Messrs H. McSherry /(chairman), W. I. Husband, K. J. McLennan, \V. W. McCardle, V. Prosser, A. "VrcFarlane, K. Munro and E. B. Hare. Mr A. L. Best wrote applying for a gentleman rider’s certificate. After some little discussion the application was granted. Tlie Finance Committee’s report was received.—lt was decided to recommend to the new committee that their present arrangements with the bank remains as they are. A report was read as to the best means of preventing the weather depreciating the grandstand. Two suggestions were received, and it was decided to adopt the following:—To take up the seats to a depth of about nine feet, cover the joints with iron before replacing seats, and thus prevent the water from getting into the rooms below. Estimated cost, about -£2O. Mr H. Burmeister wrote regarding drainage of the course. The total cost of the work he estimated at £30,He offered to supply all necessarylevels, select site of proposed drain and supervise the work if necessary. —The report was received and adopted. The balance-sheet was then read and adopted.—On the motion of Mr W. AY. McCardle, seconded by Iv. J. McVLennan, it was decided that the bal-ance-sheet be printed and circulated according to the rules of the club.. The annual meeting of the club will take place on Thursday, August list.
